The Most Exalted Name Allah (ism-i celal) is considered "the Greatest Name" (ism-i azam) because it encompasses all the meanings of the Beautiful Names (Asma al-Husna). This name is exclusive to Allah's essence and cannot be given as a name to any other being.

'Hu'

Hu (hüve) is a third-person singular pronoun in Arabic.

According to Muhyiddin Ibn al-Arabi, hu refers to Allah's absolute hidden and secret essence that no being can perceive, which corresponds to the station of Ihsan mentioned in the hadith. (al-Futuhat, II, 128)

According to Najm ad-Din al-Kubra's understanding, the letters Alif and Lam in the name Allah are articles. The doubling of Lam is for emphasis in definition, therefore the origin of the name Allah is the letter "he" (ه). Thus, in every breath that living beings take in and out, there is the sound "he", which is the name of Allah. The source of "he" in the inhaled breath is the heart, the source of "he" in the exhaled breath is the Throne. The letter "vav" (و) in the word Hu is the name of the spirit (Tasavvufi Hayat, p. 141).

Dervishes would say 'hu' to each other for addressing and responding. A person wanting to enter the tekke would say "destur" to ask permission; if the sound "hu" came from inside, they could enter. The gulbangs, which have a wide application in tekke life, end with 'hu'. Ya hu, bu da geçer ya hu, hoş gör ya hu, haydan gelen huya gider, illa hu, edep ya hu - these are frequently used expressions and measures that show people's grace, respect, and etiquette.
