Cologne Cathedral
On 7 May 2023 the Hüsn-i Hat class of Sabah Ülkesi Culture & Art embarked on a cultural visit led by calligrapher Ünal Ünalan. After an outdoor Meşk session by the Rhine, the group toured Cologne Cathedral under the guidance of art history student H. Yanar.
The cathedral—described by Franz Wallraf as the ‘Pharus of the Rhine’—began construction in 1248 and remains a defining symbol of the city. The transfer of the relics of the three Magi in 1164 transformed Cologne into a grand pilgrimage site, earning it the title ‘second Rome’.
